I pulled all the seats out, but nothing is attached to the bottoms. Any other ideas where the build sheet might be?

I found my buildsheet at the bottom of the trunk, under the carpet.

Awesome find Dude I hope one day I find my build sheet or RPO sheet 8-)

I want to install a rear wiper. Is there a kit out there for that?

Stephen, did you get anything from the PHS about your car yet? I know you said that you were going to get the PHS info a few weeks ago. Would love to know what they had to say about it if they had anything to say at all.

Working on a 350, and possibly T56 swap, also upgrading the suspension and maybe brakes. Otherwise will be bone stock.

Could be anywhere or nowhere. The next best thing is the PHS documentation.

I havent ordered it yet. I've spent the money getting my donor engine running. Now that I have that done I'll look into contracting PHS.

Thought: I noticed that in one pic, the roof light bubble was mounted on a bar affixed to the Door/Roof line. In the others, it appears to be mounted directly to the roof... my thought as to why it has aftermarket Ttops is that maybe they added the C&C ones rather than fill the holes & try a repaint?

I suspect this is likely the real deal. The odds of someone obtaining a set of those rare decals & then adding them to a Recaro seat car is pretty unlikely. Add in the missing drivetrain & poor attempt at removing said decals...
As for Value... this would be a fairly rare car, granted 3rd Gens are not highly valued yet, but neither were the Fire-Ams, Macho T/A's, or the '76 455 cars.
Look at the prices they fetch now.
Heck, a complete GM N.O.S. HO Camaro dual snorkel set-up just sold on Ebay for over $800 bucks. And when I say N.O.S., I mean New Original Stock: Never used & still in the GM boxes.
(sorry for that, had to clarify, too many people toss N.O.S. around these days).
Anyway, I think that car has a bright future.
You should try to send a letter & bunch of pics to Thomas DeMauro at High Performance Pontiac Magazine: tom.demauro@primedia.com
He has tons of contacts & historical stuff at his fingertips. Heck, you might even get a small write-up & photo in the mag.

Greetings every one. I am now the owner of this car as of 6-16-09. I am also trying to figure out this car for obvious reasons. I worked the doors and here is what they definitely read, top line....OFFICIAL PACE CAR, second line........PONTIAC TRANS AM........ third line, DAYTONA 500 Feb 14. I contacted Phoenix decals and they say that they have the grey lettering for the '83 but they have not heard of the white lettering for the '82. Also the '83 read "Official Pace Car Daytona 500", but not the words "Pontiac Trans Am" or "Feb 14". It has aftermarket t-tops. The previous mention of the door guard bump strips are also not original as obvious by the adhesive that was used and the poor job of installing them. Anything any body has on this, let me know. towtrkdug@yahoo.com

Car can now be seen on Youtube and will be for sale on Ebay after getting PHS papers. This has to be one of, or one of very few with no survivors. If there were others, you all would have seen or heard about them. I have called and checked with everyone I can think of and they all say the same thing. My guess is Pontiac / GM put this on the track and lettered it to promote the new gen 3 body style. They then made 2500 pace cars for the 83 year.

Just got the PHS paperwork I ordered. This car now gets better. It was delivered to Sheehan Pontiac, Lighthouse Pt. Fl. less than 200 miles from Daytona Motor Speedway in Feb. of 1982.

Very cool, it sounds like it could have been at the race. A quick "google" shows the race was on February 14 1982.

I think that is usually how the pace/ festival cars are delivered. They send/invoice them to several dealers in the area. 8-) After the race the festival cars are returned to the dealership and sold.

It sounds like AmorgetRS, a moderator over at thirdgen.org, has bought this car. He's in the Seattle area.

Good find. I've got one I picked up off of Ebay too. The price is just about the same as what I paid. That seems to be the going rate.

There was also a 1983 Pace Car version and a "Fall Guy" TV show version made aswell.
