Different wheels I've tried

Postby 1tinindian » Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:59 pm

I have always had a thing for wheels, and my 83 has been a test bed for several different looks, through the years.

I really like the Rally II wheels...classic muscle wheels!

Of course, I'm also a sucker for the Turbo Fins and Snowflakes... and just about anything you can put on a T/A...

Your car has been an early-bird favorite of mine on Thirdgen for many years now. Are those 4th gen tan seats inside? any more interior pictures to share?

BLG0720 you took the works right out of my mouth!

I love those rallye II wheels on that car. Those wheels, in different paint schemes, were used up till at least 1987 on some Firebirds right from the factory.

Great looking car inside and out.

Thank you very much.
I used to love going to ThirdGen, but I found the site so slow, that I couldn't stand it anymore.

If you take a look at my other thread, you can see what I've done to my car over the years, including the interior.
Yes, those a 1995 Formula seats.

But here are some more interior pictures, anyways.

I liked the Rally IIs, also, but they won't fit now that I have the 12" rear disc brakes.
They have a welded seam that catches on the caliper...at least my stock Turbo Fins will still fit, if I ever choose to put them on again.

Looking good!

I also like the picture with the Rally II wheels. It's not something you see everyday.

All the wheels look good but I think the 1987 polished 16X8's are my favorite. ;)

Bethany, I wish I had known about you several years ago when I had a near-mint set of those Turbo Fin gold wheels. That's what my 82 Recaro came with when I bought it used. But I sold them to a friend of mine in Illinois a long time ago.. oops :( Wheel and car below:

That's okay...I have my complete set, and they'll be cleaned and repainted when I get the car done next month. Yes, it would be nice to have a spare set...but as much as I paid for those rims, I'm being super careful. BUT, if you do come across another set (anyone!), I'll be happy to take them off your hands! As for me, several years ago I wasn't even considering a Trans Am...My first car was a white Cutlass Ciera, then a teal Toyota. Now all my DDs are Hondas. The T/A I have may be the only one I ever get if hubby has his say...

I want to put a set of non-trim ring Rally II wheels on my '84 TA. Along with the engine painted Pontiac blue and some chrome valve covers for a vintage look, I will use some Gen2 graphics/decals as well. Any more pics with Rally II wheels out there? How about information when the Rally II wheels were OEM until 1987 ?? Thanks in advance guys!!

They do look pretty good, I'm not sure when the Birds lost them, but the Grand Prix's had them until '87.

Has anyone tried early C4 Corvette rims on an early 3rd Gen ? I've always loved the look of those rims.

I saw a Citroen XM the other day, which had pretty cool wheels :
Image

They look like the Turbo wheels, so I thought about putting them on a Trans Am. After a little research, they appear to be 15" full hubcaps : http://www.leboncoin.fr/vi/91997489.htm?ca=17_s

If I find some, I will test fit them on my 79 Firebird steelies. That could be a cheap and easy "custom" touch and still look era correct. I'm sure they're less volatile than bowling ball hubcaps

A little Photoshop I did, could look good on a base Bird for instance :
